Super 8 movie-film cartridge

Super 8 and Regular 8 color processing is accepted as a drop-off through a partner lab.

Movie film drop-off

There is no online checkout for Super 8 or Regular 8 color processing. Call the Quakertown lab or bring the film to either store.

Bring your film to either store. We work with a partner lab for color movie film; call us to discuss the film, pricing, and timing before dropping it off.

Is this your film?

Start with the shape of the cartridge, spool, or envelope. Then check the label. Never open or unroll exposed film to identify it.

  • A motion-picture cartridge or reel marked Super 8 or Regular 8.
  • Leave the cartridge or reel closed and tell us whether it is exposed or already developed.
  • If the film smells of vinegar, say so before dropping it off; that can mean acetate decay.

Format and chemistry are different things.

Super 8 and Regular 8 color is a partner-lab process, not an in-house chemistry. Black-and-white 8mm and 16mm processing is separate, and transfer is separate again.

Old film, honestly

Film that has waited deserves an honest assessment before it goes into chemistry. Here is what we watch for.

  • Store movie film cool and dry; color movie stock fades like any color film.
  • Do not unwrap or open a cartridge to check the film; it will fog.
  • Tell us how old the film is and how it was stored.

What to expect

The age and condition of your film affect the results.

  • The partner lab handles the developing, so allow extra time beyond standard service.
  • Color negative movie film is forgiving in exposure, but age still shows.
  • Once developed, the film can be transferred to digital as a separate service.

Turn-around time

Call us for the partner lab’s current turn-around time before dropping off your movie film.

Drop off at either store

Keep your reels and any identifying packaging together. We’ll help arrange the next step at the store.
